National Bowls Championships 2013
The Ladies Senior Fours Team of Christine McLennan, Mattie McDougall, Muriel Findlay and Meg Rattray won the Bowls Scotland District 6 Finals and went on to play in the National Championships in Ayr at the end of July 2013. Anne Woolley stepped in to take the place of Mattie McDougall at Ayr and the ladies won their opening game against Orbiston 23~2.
The fairytale continued with wins against Hillside (14~13) and Kirkhill (15~9) which meant that the team had made the semi~finals against Dumfries. Despite losing 5 shots at the first end, the team fought back to win that game 15-12 and a place in the final against Baillieston. In the final, there wasn't much separating the two teams and the game was 10-10 after 10 ends. However, Baillieston started to stretch out into the lead and the match finished 18-14 for the Lanarkshire team. Hard luck Aberfeldy! The team played very well and won themselves silver Bowls Scotland medals. Congratulations ladies, you did the club proud!
